At Sidekick Health, the challenge was to take a routine task—logging daily water intake—and transform it into a joyful, engaging experience. The primary goal was to turn an otherwise mundane activity into something that users looked forward to completing, leaving them with a sense of accomplishment and progress.

Challenge

Logging water is a basic task, but it plays a crucial role in user engagement and habit formation. The challenge was to gamify this experience in a way that was not only functional but also visually appealing and connected to Sidekick Health’s brand identity. The solution needed to align with the brand’s playful and supportive tone while providing users with a seamless experience.

Solution

As part of a collaborative team, I focused on creating a design that merged the brand’s signature shapes with character illustrations. This approach allowed us to build a visually cohesive experience that felt both familiar and fresh to users. The key components of this solution included:

  • Gamification Elements: By turning water logging into a mini-game, we gave users a rewarding sense of accomplishment each time they logged their water intake.

  • Character Integration: We introduced engaging character illustrations that reflected the brand’s style and gave users a sense of companionship and encouragement as they logged their progress.

  • Visual Harmony: The brand’s distinctive shapes were integrated into the animations and interactions, reinforcing the overall identity while enhancing user engagement.

Outcome

The final water logging feature became more than just a task—it was a moment of joy for users. The smooth and visually appealing animations, combined with the gamified approach, kept users coming back, increasing engagement and satisfaction. The design's harmony with Sidekick Health's branding helped solidify the user experience while enhancing the brand's presence in the app.
